Timor-Leste is one of the newest countries in the world having won independence in 2002 from Indonesian occupation. It is located in South East Asia, within the Lesser Sunda Islands, bordering Indonesia and north of Australia, and surrounded by the Timor Sea to her south and the Banda Sea to her north. It is a country with diverse habitats including forests, wetlands, mountains and pristine coastlines and as such has a bird biodiversity at 240 species with around 10 island endemics. Bird-Photo-Tours ASIA’ Timor-Leste workshops will focus on generating close photographic encounters with many of Timor’s special birds including Sunbirds, Orioles, Friarbirds, Honeyeaters, Nightjars, Megapodes, Pratincoles, and Fruit Doves. Timor-Leste also offers breathtaking landscapes and pristine coastal vistas enhancing the overall experience of being in nature whilst observing birds. Furthermore, with a population of little over 1 million and under-developed tourism, many of its habitats are wholly undisturbed thereby making it a fabulous destination for the bird photographer.
